PostBus Switzerland Ltd

PostBus is operating 5 fuel cell buses in their fleet.

As the leading system of bus public transport in Switzerland, PostBus has set itself the goal, amongst others, of sustainable corporate management. What does this mean for a company with a fleet of over 2000 - predominantly diesel powered - postbuses, which are normally in use for twelve years.

PostBus has already embraced measures on various levels for reducing fuel consumption. In addition, PostBus stands on the front line when it comes to testing new technology and putting it into service. Since 2009, PostBus Switzerland Ltd has employed a fuel manager, whose task is to promote measures for fuel economy. In December 2011 PostBus was the first bus company to start testing fuel cell technology in public transport in Switzerland. The fuel-cell postbuses are refilled at Switzerland’s first ever hydrogen fuelling station in Brugg (Aargau) which was specially built for this purpose.

PostBus Switzerland Ltd wants to lead by example in the branch and set standards where possible. Therefore, it has signed the UITP (International Association of Public Transport) charter for sustainable development as an active member.
PostBus is the leading bus company in Switzerland's public transport network. With round 3,500 employees (incl. the drivers of the PostBus subcontractor) and more than 2,150 vehicles at its disposal, PostBus carries round 130 million passengers each year. It has a share capital of CHF 72 million.
